OTHER ROOF FORMING SYSTEMS

Forming arches over doors and windows. We first apply a 2 inch shell of light weight concrete on the form work and then pour a hard layer on top of this with 2 X 3/8" bar in the arched shape.

Catenary garage in Mexico. This is being built with pumice blocks laid against movable formwork. No rebar or iron reinforcing is being used above floor level. The building is self supporting without vertical concrete columns.

Steve built roof panels in Texas using a sand cast in an old creek bed.
Steve discusses using movable form work.

There are a bunch of us folks out there looking for the ideal way to form and pour concrete and masonry roofs.
I have had good luck with movable / reusable metal formwork – but my system certainly isn’t the only one.
My latest idea is pre-fabricated, arched triangle, roof panels.
